8/19/2024 - Campbell Victorious as ASCS Sooner Region returns to 81 Speedway.
Wichita, KS - The Jeremy Campbell Motorsports team was back in action this weekend with the familiar #10c 360 Sprint Car as the American Sprint Car Series invaded Kansas for two separate events.
Friday evening the series rolled into Dodge City and the beautiful Dodge City Raceway Park. 3rd quick in his qualifying group, Campbell struggled in heat race action, which set him up to start mid-pack for the main event.
When the A feature started, Campbell was on defense waiting for the pack to spread out and begin picking off cars. With 5 laps to go the setup finally came in and Campbell quickly moved to 12th to 9th. “We missed the set up at Dodge”, said Campbell “which is always frustrating. The car finally came around at the end, but we would have liked to be more competitive.”
Saturday brought a return to 81 Speedway, where Campbell holds eight track champions. With extra giveaways and handouts on hands for fans, Campbell brought the excitement both on and off the track! Coming from 4th to 2nd in heat 1, and 8th to 6th in heat 2, put Campbell on top of the points, and lining up on the pole for the main event.
Campbell took off to an early lead and the roar of the grandstands. As laps began to wind down, the #1x driven by Bryant Wiedeman was able to close the gap as the inside line came in, but Campbell quickly adjusted and held off for the win!
“We’ve got so much support here in the central Kansas area, and I wanted to make sure we put on a good show for these fans who only get to see us a few times a year!” Campbell said. “We know 81 fans still love sprint cars, so hopefully we can get back more often soon!”
Next up for team #10c is a visit to Enid, Oklahoma with the ASCS Sooner Region.
