Wichita, KS - This past weekend Jeremy Campbell and the #51 team, owned by Ojar and Cathy Peters, returned to the famed Belleville Highbanks to defend their 2023 305 Nationals Championship.
Wichita, KS - This past weekend Jeremy Campbell and the #51 team, owned by Ojar and Cathy Peters, returned to the famed Belleville Highbanks to defend their 2023 305 Nationals Championship.
Opening night looked promising for Campbell, as he would win heat #5, locking into the redraw, and then line up 7th for the main event. Motor issues unfortunately started halfway through the A, and Campbell had to limp the #51 home to a 17th position.
The team was unable to repair the borrowed Myers power plant, and switched it out the next morning, hoping to start fresh for Saturday’s big event. Things once again started well, with Campbell going fast time in his qualifying group and finishing second in his heat race!
Lining up 6th for the $7,500 to win Championship feature, Campbell had a strong run going before the motor gremlins once again flared up, with Campbell falling back to 11th when the checkered flag fell.
“This 51 car is near perfect every time we hit the track,” said Campbell. “But we struggled in the motor department all weekend, and despite the help we received from the Myers team, we were just off the pace by feature time both nights. This track is hard on engines, and if you’ve got any issues at all, they are going to be brought to light at these speeds.”
Next up for team #10c is a two day run with the American Sprint Car Series August 16th at Dodge City and August 17th at 81 Speedway, where Campbell has collected seven track championships!
